Founder of Ramoji Filmcity, Ramoji Rao passes away at 87

Media baron Ramoji Rao passed away on Saturday, June 8 due to prolonged illness. According to the Hindustan Times report, for an extended period, he had been enduring a chronic illness and age-related health issues. On the afternoon of June 5, he was hospitalised at Star Hospitals of Nanakramguda in Hyderabad due to respiratory problems and high blood pressure.

He was being treated with ventilator support and was in a critical condition. He breathed his last at Star Hospitals at Nanakramguda at around 4.50 am. His body is being taken to his residence in the Ramoji Film City on the outskirts of Hyderabad in a while,” a family member said.

Cherukuri Ramoji Rao, born on November 16, 1936, dies on June 8, 2024. He was an esteemed Indian entrepreneur, media mogul, and movie producer. Rao led the renowned Ramoji Group, the proud owner of Ramoji Film City, which is the largest film production facility globally. Additionally, the group also owns the popular Eenadu newspaper, the ETV Network of TV channels, and the Usha Kiran Movies film production company.
