FC Barcelona play their penultimate game of the season tomorrow at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys when they take on Rayo Vallecano.
Following back-to-back wins over Real Sociedad and UD Almeria, Barcelona are well-positioned to finish second in La Liga unless there is any slip-up in the final two matches.
A win tomorrow against Inigo Perez’s men would be a big step in the right direction for the Catalans and they will be eager to get the job done, especially amidst all the furore surrounding Xavi’s future.
Four players risk getting suspended
As Barcelona get set to take on Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, four Blaugrana stars will need to be mindful of their yellow-card situation.
Indeed, Oriol Romeu, Andreas Christensen, Sergi Roberto, and Jules Kounde are all on four yellow cards heading into tomorrow’s contest.
Another booking against Rayo Vallecano would take their tally in La Liga for the season to five, earning them an automatic suspension for accumulation of cards.
If that happens, the quartet would go on to miss Barcelona’s final game of the season on May 25 against Sevilla.
While Barcelona can make do without Romeu or Roberto, both Christensen and Kounde are key members of Xavi’s team and the manager would ideally want to have them available against Sevilla.
