Former Deputy National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Yekini Nabena, issued a stern warning, asserting that the party is on the brink of chaos unless significant changes are made.

Nabena criticized the leadership style of APC’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, suggesting that his approach could lead to the party’s disintegration.

In a statement he signed, Nabena expressed his concerns, particularly targeting Ganduje’s perception of his role within the party. He remarked, “There can never be peace in APC, judging by the way they run the party. The foundation is faulty. There can never be peace until the day the party will explode.”

Highlighting his grievances further, Nabena emphasized the issue of leadership legitimacy within the party. He criticized Ganduje’s appointment to the position of chairman without undergoing the conventional electoral process, stating, “There will not be peace in a party with a chairman nobody voted for.”

Nabena further lamented Ganduje’s conduct, insinuating that he sees his role as compensation for not attaining the position of Vice President. He criticized Ganduje’s influence within the party, alleging that he imposes decisions based on his proximity to the presidency, neglecting the input of other members.

Predicting dire consequences if corrective measures are not taken, Nabena warned, “The party exploding is just a matter of time because when was the last time they called for NEC meeting based on constitutional provision?”

He raised concerns about the lack of internal accountability, particularly within the National Working Committee (NWC), arguing that many members are appointed without a clear understanding of the party’s objectives.

Drawing attention to recent electoral setbacks, Nabena attributed failures in states like Bayelsa and ongoing crises in states like Edo and Ondo to the party’s ineffective leadership.

In conclusion, Nabena emphasized the urgent need for reform within the APC to avert imminent collapse, stating, “The party cannot do the right thing because nobody is checkmating anybody.”
