The Caretaker Chairman of Obio-Akpor Local Government Area in Rivers State and strong ally of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Chijioke Ihunwo, has appointed 100 Special Assistants.

This announcement was made via the chairman’s official social media account on Wednesday. The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, who has been having a running power tussle with Fubara is from Abio-Akpor LGA where Ihunwo is in charge of.

According to the statement, these appointments take immediate effect. The new appointees are expected to work closely with the Chairman to achieve his developmental goals, aligning with the vision of Governor Fubara. Ihunwo congratulated the new appointees and urged them to be effective in their roles.

This development follows the recent action of the caretaker chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area, Darlington Orji, who appointed 600 special assistants, senior special assistants, and executive assistants two weeks ago.

Both Ihunwo and Orji are among the 23 caretaker chairmen sworn in by Governor Fubara on June 19, 2023.
