Gangrel has had his knee and hip replaced in the past three months.
The WWE legend has been popping up in major promotions in recent years. He made numerous promotions in AEW since 2020, most recently helping Adam Copeland to beat Malakai Black in a cage match at Double or Nothing 2024.
He has also wrestled regularly on the indies, but that came to an abrupt end in July this year. As it turns out, Gangrel has been on the shelf, recovering from some serious injuries.
Gangrel posted on Twitter, explaining why he had been “hanging low” for the past four months. The legend explained that he had hip and knee replacements in the past three months, showing images of the scaring on his legs.
He added that he’s on his way back to full fitness and Gangrel is feeling good following the operations.
“I’ve been hanging low last 4 months, reason is I had a total hip replacement 3 months ago and 3 weeks ago a total knee replacement. I’m on my way back up and feeling good!”
Gangrel Reveals How His AEW Double Or Nothing Appearance Came About
Gangrel assisted Adam Copeland in retaining his TNT Championship at AEW Double or Nothing.
Former WWE Superstar Gangrel was a guest on Busted Open Radio. When asked about his AEW Double or Nothing appearance, Gangrel said that when Copeland has a story in his mind, it’s going to eventually happen.
“Adam is hard-headed. Once he has a story or something in his mind, he’s going to get it done one way or another,” Gangrel said. “Eventually, it went over to AEW, and he got it done. I’m appreciative for it. I’m 55 years old. I didn’t know if I could crawl up through the bottom of the ring, being under there for a while. My biggest fear was, ‘Can I get up and move?’ My adrenaline kicked in. I was just blessed to be part of that moment.”
