Gaumont CEO Sidonie Dumas To Receive Int’l Emmy Directorate Award

Gaumont CEO Sidonie Dumas is set to be honored with the 2024 International Emmy Directorate Award, the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has announced. Dumas has been head of the 129-year-old French film and TV company since 2010. The French exec has been credited with moving with the times to expand the company into TV. Early series coming to fruition under her watch included Netflix hits Narcos and Lupin, while more recent high profile productions span Karl Lagerfeld biographic series Becoming Karl; German historical drama The Interpreter of Silence for Disney and the recently announced series about the Gucci family saga. “Sidonie Dumas has strategically and successfully pivoted Gaumont’s main business from theatrical to television with major international expansion and key deals from Europe and Latin America to Hollywood,” said IATAS President CEO Bruce L. Paisner. “We look forward to honoring her remarkable vision and career with our Directorate Award.” Dumas welcomed the award. “Receiving this International Emmy Directorate Award, is a great honor – not only for me, but also for all the teams at Gaumont who assist me every day at our offices in Europe and the United States.”

Trailer For ‘The Office Australia’ Lands

Here’s the first trailer for the latest version of The Office, which is launching on Prime Video globally (bar the U.S.) on October 18. The Office Australia stars Felicity Ward as the first woman to play the iconic office manager role that Ricky Gervais first made famous. The trailer sees her make a series of gaffes, including failing to recall a recently deceased staff member. “Hannah is a riddle swallowed by an idiot and shat out by a moron,” says Deborah, an office worker at the Flinley Craddick packaging company played by Lucy Schmidt. The show, which launches 23 years after the original BBC mockumentary, is the thirteenth remake of the BBC Studios scripted format. The plot sees Ward, whose character is called Hannah Howard, fighting to keep her team together after head office announce they are shutting the branch down and making staff work from home full time. BBC Studios Australia & New Zealand are co-producing with Bunya Entertainment and Amazon MGM Studios. Julie de Fina and Jackie van Beek are the writers.

Studiocanal Rebrands The Copyright Group As Studiocanal Kids & Family Ltd

Canal+ Group subsidiary Studiocanal has rebranded its merchandising and licensing business The Copyrights Group as Studiocanal Kids & Family Ltd. French exec Francoise Guyonnet, who was appointed CEO of The Copyrights Group in 2023, remains in place as CEO Studiocanal Kids & Family Ltd. “Our new company brand Studiocanal Kids & Family underlines Studiocanal’s commitment to building global brands around IP that truly resonates with kids and their families,” said Guyonnet. “Being part of Canal+ Group is also a great opportunity to identify and develop new IPs globally, alongside Studiocanal’s catalogue of more than 9,000 titles. And of course, we are thrilled with the continuing development of our beloved Paddington’s journey throughout the world.” The Copyright Group was acquired by Studiocanal in 2016 at the same time as the company acquired PaddingtonTM IP. The newly-branded company is currently gearing up for the release of Paddington In Peru in November.

Canal+ Group Appoints Amandine Ferré As Chief Financial Officer

Canal+ Group has appointed long-time exec Amandine Ferré as Chief Financial Officer, in a move that will also see her join the French pay-TV giant’s management board. She succeeds Grégoire Castaing who has joined the Lagardère Group as Assistant Managing Director in charge of Finance. “I would like to warmly congratulate Amandine Ferré for her appointment. Her in-depth knowledge of Canal+ Group, Studiocanal and Dailymotion, as well as her international experience, particularly in Asia for over 4 years, will be valuable assets for the continuation of our growth and expansion,” said Canal+ Group Chairman and CEO Maxime Saada. The other board members are Deputy CEO of Canal+ Group and Studiocanal CEO Anna Marsh and Jacques du Puy, Deputy CEO of CANAL+ Group in charge of International and President of CANAL+ International.
