Girona manager Michel recently addressed rumours surrounding Barcelona defender Eric Garcia. He chose not to say much, only mentioning that Garcia is currently with Barcelona, and he is uncertain about what might happen in the final days of the transfer window.

“Eric is a great player and we all know that but now he’s with Barcelona and I don’t know what will happen,” said Mikel as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

The future of Eric Garcia at Barcelona has been a hot topic of late, especially given the club’s financial struggles. Despite the player expressing earlier his desire to stay, Barcelona’s need to reduce their squad size could lead to his departure.

Garcia happy to rejoin Girona

Amidst these developments, it appears that Garcia would be more than happy to join Girona before the transfer window closes, as while Barcelona are focused on offloading players, Girona are keen to bring the Spanish international back to their squad.

In turn, it has been suggested that Michel would seize the opportunity to re-sign Garcia.

For Garcia, this move could be a chance to secure more regular playing time. At Barcelona, he is aware that he would likely have a secondary role, given the competition for spots in the starting lineup.

Returning to Girona would offer him the opportunity to be a regular starter, which could be more appealing than staying on the bench at Barcelona.

Given these circumstances, the defender is reportedly open to the idea of moving to Girona. Now, it is up to both clubs to negotiate and come up with a deal that works for everyone.

Recent reports suggest that a permanent transfer for Garcia could be arranged for around €15 million.

As the transfer window draws to a close, Garcia’s return to Girona looks increasingly likely, with both clubs keen to finalise the details in the coming days.
