Victim of a major viral infection at the end of 2023, the Portuguese center forward would have lost six kilos.

On August 7, Gonçalo Ramos committed to Paris Saint Germain as part of a loan with a quasi-compulsory purchase option amounting to 80 million euros. Five months later, the Portuguese striker has scored only four goals with the capital club in all competitions.

To his credit, the Lusitanian international is hardly used by Luis Enrique. “I consider Gonçalo Ramos to be an exceptional player with a fantastic mentality”, however, declared the Spanish coach about him last November. According to the Portuguese media Record, the number 9 of the Rouge et Bleu would have been the victim of a serious viral infection at the end of 2023, requiring his hospitalization. This virus, which would have caused him to lose six kilos, could explain his low playing time.

This health problem would have complicated Gonçalo Ramos’ training, forcing Luis Enrique to regularly put him on the sidelines of the group. The center forward was reportedly admitted to hospital during his trip to Portugal over the Christmas holidays. PSG would then have asked Benfica, his former club, to watch over him and follow him on site from a medical point of view. Returning to training on December 29, Gonçalo Ramos would now be very close to his ideal weight.
