EXCLUSIVE: Grammy winner and 15-time Oscar nominee Diane Warren is set to compose an original song for Maserati: The Brothers, starring Anthony Hopkins, Michele Morrone, Andy Garcia and Jessica Alba.
The attachment marks a reunion between Warren and Italian producer Andrea Iervolino (Ferrari) after they previously worked together on Tell It Like a Woman, for which Warren received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song.
The sports car biopic is being directed by Oscar winner Bobby Moresco (Crash). Filming is due to get underway this month in Italy.
Maserati was founded in 1914 in a garage in the central Italian city of Bologna by three brothers: Alfieri, Ettore and Ernesto. From its early days, the company – which is now known for luxury cars — was connected to the world of car racing. Maserati’s first Grand Prix vehicle is the one that Alfieri Maserati was driving in the 1927 Messina Cup race when he had a near fatal crash. Alfieri died a few years later at the age of 44 from injuries related to that carsh. In 1937, the brothers sold a controlling stake in the company that is now owned by Fiat.
Iervolino’s previous company, ILBE Group – in which he was partnered with Monika Bacardi — produced the Bobby Moresco-directed biopic Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend and was also among the producers of Micheal Mann’s Ferrari starring Adam Driver and Penélope Cruz.
The producer expressed his excitement about Warren’s involvement, stating: “Having Diane Warren on board is an extraordinary milestone for this film. Her ability to evoke emotion and tell stories through her music is unmatched. Diane’s song will undoubtedly amplify the heart and soul of Maserati: The Brothers, making it an unforgettable experience for audiences worldwide.”
Acclaimed American songwriter Warren, the recipient of an Academy Honorary Award, is known for her collaborations with a string of A-list pop stars from Celine Dion and Whitney Houston to Elton John and Lady Gaga. Songs she has penned have featured in a host of movies including Armageddon, Con Air, Pearl Harbour, Love Actually and Legally Blonde.
