Guardiola’s response when asked to choose between his Barcelona and Man City teams: “Like choosing between your mum and dad”

Pep Guardiola was one of the star figures in the recently-concluded Globe Soccer Awards.

Having led Manchester City to a treble-winning season last term, Guardiola has etched himself as one of the most successful figures to coach in England.

On that note, Pep, who has led both Barcelona and Manchester City to a triplet of titles during the course of his managerial career, was asked to choose between these two great teams.

Guardiola was particularly asked to choose between his version of Barcelona and Manchester City.

Guardiola remains diplomatic

In response, though, the Spaniard remained quite diplomatic and refused to choose between Man City and Barcelona.

Instead, the Man City head coach said (h/t Fabrizio Romano), “It’s like choosing between your mum and dad.”

The comment, though, did make sense for someone like Guardiola, who has close ties with Barcelona, having both played and managed the club.

Man City, meanwhile, has turned into a love affair for Guardiola. He has remained the longest at Etihad than at any other club and also earned an enormous amount of success.

Guardiola had perfected the Man City squad year after year, and his progress finally came to fruition when the English giants secured a treble last season.

It now remains to be seen whether or not Guardiola will continue at Man City for the foreseeable future. His current contract at Etihad expires in 2025, but a contract extension cannot be ruled out at this stage.

Guardiola may look for a completely new challenge elsewhere, though he might not necessarily return to his beloved Barcelona or Bayern Munich, for that matter.
