Gunther is currently enjoying an iconic run as the Intercontinental Champion in WWE. While showcasing improved promo skills, he faced an unfortunate botch on RAW this week. However, he appears to have played it off in a hilarious way now.

During this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW, Seth Rollins opened the show and revealed that he suffered an MCL tear. Uncertain about his future, Rollins got interrupted by Imperium, specifically Gunther. Gunther gave respect to Rollins’ Championship reign and noted Rollins’ uncertain WrestleMania status.

Rollins dismissed his medical woes and vowed to defend his title at WrestleMania 40. Gunther then declared his intent to win the Royal Rumble and challenge Rollins. However, Gunther made an embarrassing botch when he accidentally stated he would win the Royal Rumble “this Sunday” on Monday Night RAW.

WWE swiftly covered up the mistake by using a graphic that correctly pointed out that the Rumble would take place on January 27th, this Saturday.

In light of his botch, the Intercontinental Champion took to Twitter and uploaded a video of the botch, while stating that he will win the Royal Rumble on Sunday, 2 AM Central European Time. Gunther made it clear he played off the botch in an amusing way.

”I am going to win the Royal Rumble, this Sunday 2am CET”

Only time will tell whether The Ring General will end up winning the Royal Rumble this weekend and punch his ticket for WrestleMania 40. Nonetheless, fans appreciate Gunther for his sense of humor in this case.
