Gunther is in the middle of an iconic run as the Intercontinental Champion in WWE. He has also stepped up when it comes to his promo ability, but he suffered an unfortunate botch on RAW this week.
During this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW, Seth Rollins opened the show and revealed that he suffered an MCL tear and doctors told him he will need 3-4 months to recover if he undergoes surgery.
Rollins, uncertain about the future, faced an interruption from Imperium, particularly Gunther. Despite Rollins urging no delay in his actions, Gunther expressed respect for Rollins’ championship reign. Gunther empathized with Rollins’ uncertain WrestleMania status.
Rollins, undeterred, dismissed medical concerns and vowed to defend his title at WrestleMania 40. Gunther, who was clearly impressed, declared his intent to win the Royal Rumble and challenge Rollins.
However, Gunther suffered an embarrassing botch as he stated that he would win the Royal Rumble this Sunday, which led to WWE covering up his mistake by using a graphic that pointed out the Rumble will take place on January 27th, this Saturday.
”On Sunday, I’m going to win the Royal Rumble.”
Botches are commonplace in the world of professional wrestling and Gunther’s case was no different. Regardless, Gunther is determined to win the Royal Rumble this week, so we’ll have to see how that turns out.
