Two and a half months after his last goal, Erling Haaland found the net again with Manchester City, Saturday against Everton (2-0), to score his 51st Premier League goal in… 50 starts!

Never has a player scored 50 goals in his first 50 Premier League matches as a starter. It was before this Saturday noon and Manchester City’s match against Everton, as part of the 24th day of the English championship. Erling Haaland scored the two goals in the victory (2-0) for Pep Guardiola’s team at the Etihad Stadium to make it 51 goals in 50 PL starts. Never seen.

Hit in the foot at the beginning of December, Haaland had not scored since November 28, more than two months ago! The Norwegian cyborg made his return to competition 10 days ago and made his second start in a row this Saturday.

While the locals came up against a solid Toffees defensively, it was the former Dortmund star who broke the deadlock, lying in wait for a corner, with a powerful right-footed shot (71st). Then launched by Kevin De Bruyne, Haaland moved past Jarrad Branthwaite to beat Jordan Pikcford a second time (85th).

City in the lead while waiting for Liverpool

The reigning English and European champions take the lead in the standings with one point more than Liverpool, who host Burnley this afternoon (4 p.m. kick-off). The Cityzens are in a strong position because they will still have one game less than the Reds.

With its extraordinary scorer back in form, Man City faces Copenhagen on Tuesday in Denmark in the round of 16 first leg of the Champions League, before facing Chelsea on Saturday, again at home. A Liverpool-Man City is scheduled for March 10 at Anfield!
