Morocco eliminated from the CAN by South Africa, Achraf Hakimi apologizes for his missed penalty and announces the color for the future of the Atlas Lions.

Morocco came up empty. Eliminated by South Africa (0-2) in the round of 16 of the CAN, despite their status as favorites, Walid Regragui’s men experienced a major disappointment. Indeed, the semi-finalists of the 2022 World Cup aimed to reach the same stage of the competition during this tournament.

Hakimi makes a promise

A failure expressed by Paris Saint-Germain right-back Achraf Hakimi, apologizing for the missed penalty in the 85th minute when the Atlas Lions were already down 1-0. On social media, the former Inter Milan player shared his regret and thanked the Moroccan people for their support, promising to come back stronger in the future.

“Today is a very difficult and sad day for our elimination. I would like to apologize for the penalty, I took responsibility to help the team, but unfortunately it didn’t work. I would like to thank all the Moroccan people for their support, especially all the people who came to Côte d’Ivoire. We will get up and come back stronger for the future! Insha’Allah”, wrote the Moroccan star on Instagram.
