IMG Credit: WWEIt was a busy night. We are in the middle of one of the biggest periods of the WWE year as the first half of the Draft has taken place, with the second half coming on Monday. The first half featured several wrestlers being selected, but there were very few names moved to a different show. Now we know a bit more about the thinking behind the changes and maybe what is still to come.

Fightful Select has more details on the Draft. According to the report, the wrestlers drafted did not know where they would wind up until the show started. This included Kiana James, who did not know which brand she would be drafted to from NXT and was said to be surprised that she was called up whatsoever.
With regards to wrestlers changing rosters, of the sixteen televised picks, only six (including two NXT callups) saw wrestlers changing brands. This was said to be due to WWE pushing the idea of keeping the rosters together being as important as getting new wrestlers. However, more roster shifts, including more NXT callups, are expected on Monday. Finally, Baron Corbin and Bron Breakker were split as Breakker is seen as a potential major singles star. At the same time, Corbin is expected to receive a new chance now that he is back on the main roster.

Opinion: This does explain a few things as there is only so much that can be done when one of the main points is keeping the same roster. There were a lot of moves being made but that only got WWE so far. Hopefully the second night has some bigger surprises and more important changes, as the first night left quite a bit to be desired following the hype of the event.
