On Tuesday, FC Barcelona were dealt with a fresh injury setback as it was confirmed that Pablo Torre had fractured his hand during training and was set to undergo surgery.

The 21-year-old midfield starlet, having returned on loan from Girona, was looking to make an impression on new manager Hansi Flick and earn a place in the squad for the upcoming season.

As such, the injury came at an inopportune moment for the young Spaniard casting doubts over his availability for the pre-season tour of the USA later this month.

Flick impressed, wants surgery expedited

Now, though, SPORT reports that Pablo Torre has managed to leave a positive impression on Barcelona manager Hansi Flick during the short time in which he trained before getting injured.

As such, the German tactician has requested the club to fast track the 21-year-old’s surgery so as to ensure that he recovers in time for the pre-season tour of the USA.

In principle, the injury is believed to be nothing serious and nothing that will prevent Torre from attending the tour of the United States that Barça’s first team will undertake from 28 July.

Sources at the club suggest that after the operation he will have to rest for 4-5 days to avoid the wound becoming infected due to sweat and that he will then be able to gradually return to training with the group.

The idea, as we mentioned, is for him to be 100% fit and operational for the US tour in which not only him, but also many other players will be playing for a place in the German coach’s squad.

The operation will be performed this Thursday by Dr. Xavi Mir and until then Torre will train individually to maintain his fitness and to avoid contact to the injured area.

Torre will have the opportunity to prove his worth to the new Barcelona boss in the United States with Flick himself insisting that the surgerys hould take place as soon as possible in order to be able to test him on the tour.
