Journalist Adrian Sanchez has informed Barça Universal that Barcelona manager Hansi Flick does not view Ferran Torres as a key player in his long-term plans.

It must be noted that Torres has faced numerous challenges since joining Barcelona from Manchester City, and his recent performance against Osasuna in a 2-4 defeat has once again brought him under intense scrutiny.

Despite being given the chance to start, Torres struggled to make a significant impact on the game, frustrating both the fans and critics.

]His most notable moment came just before half-time when he missed a crucial opportunity that could have changed the course of the match. This miss led to a wave of backlash, with many supporters taking to social media to express their disappointment.

His performance was heavily criticised, with some fans even calling for his departure from the club.

Not future at Barcelona

It is important to highlight that Torres has been featuring in the team mainly because Barcelona lack a natural left-winger.

The club had attempted to sign Nico Williams to fill this role, but financial constraints forced them to back out of the deal. This has left Torres as a temporary solution in the squad.

Sanchez further confirms that there is little concern within the club about Torres’ future. He is not considered a central figure in Flick’s project, and it is unlikely that he will have a long-term role at Barcelona.

Once Dani Olmo returns to full fitness, it is expected that Raphinha will take over on the left wing, while Olmo will be slotted back into his natural position. Until then, Flick will continue to use Torres, but his future at the club remains uncertain.

For now, Torres’ time on the pitch is more of a stopgap solution rather than a sign of faith in his abilities, with the club’s focus on finding more solid long-term options once the squad is back to full strength.
