Barcelona have made an impressive start to their La Liga campaign under Hansi Flick, winning all their matches before the international break.

The season began with a challenging away match against Valencia and despite going a goal down, Barcelona fought back, thanks to a brace from Robert Lewandowski, securing a 2-1 victory.

In their second match, Barcelona faced Athletic Club at Montjuïc. It was a competitive game, but goals from Lamine Yamal and Lewandowski ensured a 2-1 win for the Catalans.

The team then travelled to Vallecas to play against Rayo Vallecano next and once again, they emerged victorious with a 2-1 scoreline, with goals from Pedri and Dani Olmo giving Barça another three points.

The fourth match saw Barcelona host Real Valladolid. Flick’s team delivered a dominant performance, crushing Valladolid 7-0 in an emphatic display. This run of victories highlights the strong start Barcelona have made under Flick’s leadership.

Interestingly, Flick’s excellent start with Barça is reminiscent of his early days at Bayern Munich. When he first took charge of the Bavarian club, Flick also won his first four competitive matches.

His debut victory came in the Champions League group stage against Olympiacos, where Bayern won 2-0. This was followed by two Bundesliga wins, a 4-0 triumph over Dortmund and a 4-0 win against Fortuna Dusseldorf.

Flick’s fourth consecutive victory at Bayern was a 6-0 demolition of Red Star in the Champions League.

During these initial games, Lewandowski was a key player for Bayern, scoring a total of seven goals, including four in the match against Red Star.

However, Flick’s strong start at Bayern was not to last. In the fifth game of the 2019/20 season, Bayern suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Bayer Leverkusen.

This was followed by another 2-1 loss to Borussia M’gladbach, marking a challenging period for Flick’s team. Notably, Lewandowski did not score in either of these matches.

Despite these setbacks at Bayern, Flick’s early success with Barcelona shows he is capable of starting strong. The challenge now will be to maintain this momentum throughout the season.
