Mentioned as a contender for the Chelsea bench following yesterday’s dismissal of Mauricio Pochettino, German technician Hans-Dieter Flick (59) was mentioned as a candidate to take over on the Blues bench. However, the Spanish media Mundo Deportivo explains that the former Germany coach would have refused the London training.

According to the Catalan newspaper, Hans-Dieter Flick would give priority to FC Barcelona where President Joan Laporta appreciates him. In addition, his agent is Pini Zahavi, who is also that of Robert Lewandowski. The Israeli representative maintains good relations with the Blaugranas and this could play a role in Xavi’s succession.
