Harvey Guillén, who portrays Guillermo in What We Do In The Shadows, has given us a hint of what’s coming up in the sixth and final season for the show and his character.
“We start where we left off and sometimes dreams and aspirations don’t turn out the way we want them to, (spoiler alert if you haven’t seen Season 5)”, he told Deadline on the red carpet of the Critics Choice Awards, last night where he was nominated in the supporting actor category. “But I think that’s the whole point of rebirth right? It’s like a renaissance. It’s happening again and you take a new direction, new ideas, new approach so I’m really excited for the audience to see a new layer to Guillermo.
Asked what he’ll take away most from playing Guillermo? “It’s never too late to find yourself. It’s never too late to be reborn and to re-invent youself. And there’s no ticking time bomb expiration date to any one of us as to what our dreams and hopes can come true,” he said.
Based on the 2014 feature film of the same name by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, What We Do In The Shadows documents the nightly exploits of vampire roommates Nandor (Kayvan Novak), Laszlo (Matt Berry), Nadja (Natasia Demetriou) and Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch) as they navigate the modern world of Staten Island with the help of their human familiar, Guillermo (Guillén).
The series is produced by FX Productions, with Paul Simms, Clement, Waititi, Stefani Robinson, Sam Johnson, Garrett Basch and Eli Bush serving as executive producers.
In addition to Guillén’s nomination, What We Do In The Shadows also was nominated for Best Comedy series and Best Actor for Kayvan Novak at the Critics Choice Awards.
