House of the Dragon Season 3 is not in production yet. Matt Smith, who plays Daemon Targaryen, made an appearance at 2024 New York Comic Con on Sunday (October 20) in New York City. During a panel with co-stars Fabian Frankel and Tom Glynn-Carney, the actors discussed what they knew about the third season alongside showrunner Ryan Condal and the writers, via Variety. I’ve not heard a thing — have you?” he said, looking at Fabian. “I’ve heard some things that I couldn’t possibly share here,” Fabian teased. The news comes two months after George R.R. Martin took to his personal blog to air grievances about Season 2 and teased events allegedly coming up in the final two seasons of House of the Dragon, which is based on his book Fire & Blood. He then deleted the post. “There are few greater fans of George R.R. Martin and his book ‘Fire & Blood’ than the creative team on ‘House of the Dragon,’ both in production and at HBO,” an HBO spokesperson said in a statement at the time. “Commonly, when adapting a book for the screen, with its own format and limitations, the showrunner ultimately is required to make difficult choices about the characters and stories the audience will follow. We believe that Ryan Condal and his team have done an extraordinary job and the millions of fans the series has amassed over the first two seasons will continue to enjoy it.”
