Spanish club Atletico have refused to sign French international Adrien Rabiot due to interference from his mother.
Adrien Rabiot has just joined the ranks of Olympique de Marseille. Before landing on Phocaean soil, the Duke could have committed to a Spanish giant. He was in very advanced contacts with Atlético Madrid before the Matelassiers’ decision-makers cut short the talks.
French agent Bruno Satin said that the person responsible for this failure is Véronique Rabiot. According to him, she is holding back her son’s career.
Rabiot’s mother wanted to teach tactics to Atlético leaders
He said during an intervention on RMC Sport: “What happened to him is the result of the incompetence of the people who accompanied him there. He was advised by his mother and that shows that it is good to be accompanied by professionals because if he had been accompanied by a professional, he would be in one of the top 10 European teams and not a free agent.”
Satin also revealed: “I spoke to the sporting director of Atletico Madrid at the end of July and he told me: ‘I had two conversations with the mother and I stopped immediately because she was explaining to me where her son was going to play’. It quickly tires all the professionals, it’s unbearable.”
