Omoyele Sowore, the African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, has alleged that President Bola Tinubu has already acquired a $100 million presidential jet.

This claim comes after a committee of the House of Representatives recently recommended purchasing a new presidential jet for President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, citing that the aircraft in the Presidential Fleet are dysfunctional.

The proposal generated widespread controversy online and was rejected by many Nigerians.

In a post on his X handle on Monday evening, the two-time presidential candidate claimed Tinubu had already purchased the jet, which is ready for delivery. Sowore criticized Tinubu for the government’s inability to pay a minimum wage to workers while spending $100 million on a private jet.

He wrote on X, “While they are telling you to ‘exercise patience,’ @officialABAT already bought a $100m Presidential Jet and configured or reconfigured it with some $50 million, and it is ready for delivery! The jet, an A330-200 initially christened VP-CAC, is now registered as 5N-FGA.

“This was not in the annual budget. They can’t pay minimum wage for workers but could afford $150m for a private jet. Students have to obtain loans to go to college, but they could afford to approve billions for hajj even as the money ended up being stolen. Fight we MUST!”
