Diogo Jota's excellent run of form for Liverpool has been further highlighted with an incredible statistic on his scoring efforts.

The Portuguese star scored the Reds' opener in their 4-1 win over Chelsea on Wednesday night, his 13th goal of the season.

Jota has also netted four times in his last four appearances in the Premier League, but there is one statistic that tops the lot.

His goal against Chelsea means he has never lost a top-flight match in which he has scored, doing so for the 44th game in a row.

The forward has netted 55 goals in 159 Premier League matches for Wolves and Liverpool across six seasons.

As a result, Reds fans believe that their attack could still prove rewarding even if Mohamed Salah was to leave the club this summer.

One supporter on X said: "Thought Jota and [Luis] Diaz were so so so good yesterday. Our attack has stepped up ridiculously since Salah left."

"If Salah leaves, Jota has to start. We need to buy a back up winger instead," added a second.

A third said: "A lot credit has to be given to Jota, he’s really stepped up since Salah left for AFCON."

"Move over Salah, we got Jota at home," added a fourth.

Liverpool rejected a whopping £150million offer for Salah from Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad in September.

The Egyptian, who has recently been at the African Cup of Nations and is recovering from injury, sees his deal expire in 2025 and talkSPORT understands Saudi Arabia will return with another bid in the summer.

Salah, who has scored 204 goals in 332 appearances, would no doubt be a huge loss for Liverpool should he decide to leave the club.

However should Jota continue his fine form in front of goal, then he could be the man to fill the potential void left by his co-star.
