Influencer James Charles dragged for mocking RFK Jr.’s voice caused by rare disorder: ‘Spit it out, grandpa!’

Influencer James Charles is under fire for ignorant remarks he made about Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s voice.

“No offense, but why does RFK sound like that?” the makeup artist, who boasts 40.6 million followers on TikTok, asked in a since-deleted video on the social media platform.

“How many packs of cigarettes a day do you have to smoke to even get to that level of throat pain? Like, you’re trying to convince us that he’s going to be the Secretary of Health?”

Charles, 25, was likely watching RFK Jr.’s confirmation hearing from Capitol Hill this week as the politician made his bid to head the US Department of Health and Human Services under President Trump.

The internet personality further opined, “Doesn’t seem very healthy to me” before mocking Kennedy’s voice by making a choking sound and concluding, “Spit it out, grandpa!”

The viral video sparked heated responses from many people online who came to RFK Jr.’s defense.

“TikTok influencer James Charles just stooped to a new low by disgustingly mocking RFK Jr.’s voice. This is beyond revolting from someone with such a platform. SHAME ON YOU, JAMES CHARLES!” one person wrote on X Thursday.

Other critics explained that the former presidential candidate speaks the way he does because he has was diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder known as spasmodic dysphonia in 1996.

Another person slammed Charles as “absolutely disgusting” in a separate post on X Thursday.

“James Charles should go back to preying on underage boys and hocking [sic] cheap makeup,” the user wrote, referencing a past scandal in which the social media star was caught messaging teens.

“Mocking RFK’s spasmodic dysphonia is gross. The left preaches about tolerance, but I guess it’s the rules for thee, not for me.”

Charles has yet to issue a response to the backlash. His rep did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.

Kennedy’s spokesperson also could not be reached, and the environmental lawyer has not issued a statement on the influencer’s controversial video.

However, RFK Jr. has openly addressed his health problems in the past, as he’s aware that his speaking voice can raise a lot of questions.

“I think it makes it problematical for people to listen to me. I cannot listen to myself on TV,” he admitted on NewsNation in 2023. “I will never listen to this broadcast. … I feel sorry for you guys having to listen to me.”

Despite Kennedy’s voice being distorted due to a medical issue, that has not stopped comedians from poking fun at it.

Last November, Alec Baldwin was called out for mocking RFK Jr. during an appearance on “Saturday Night Live,” with one critic saying the spoof was “pretty insensitive” and another dubbing it “shameful.”
