Injuries have been a major issue for Barcelona this season, with manager Xavi Hernandez not being able to field his strongest XI on a consistent basis due to the fitness problems in the squad.
But heading into the crucial UEFA Champions League encounter against Napoli later this week, the Catalans have received a fresh boost on the injury front.
Joao Felix, who has been out with an ankle injury, did part of today’s training session with the rest of the group, boosting his chances of being available against Napoli.
Joao Felix will travel to Italy
Now, providing an update on the 24-year-old’s situation, journalist Helena Condis reports that Joao Felix will travel to Napoli with the rest of the Barcelona squad and test himself before the game.
As things stand, the Portuguese international will be on the squad list for the trip to Italy that will be announced tomorrow.
A call on his involvement against the Serie A champions on Wednesday night will be taken depending on how he feels over the next 48 hours or so.
Having Joao Felix will be a welcome boost for Xavi considering that Ferran Torres is also unavailable for selection and Lamine Yamal’s minutes have been piling up.
Even though he has not been consistent enough, the Atletico Madrid loanee has still contributed with seven goals and five assists from 28 matches in all competitions.
The 24-year-old has missed the last four La Liga games due to the ankle sprain, but there appears to be a good chance he might return against Napoli later this week, even though it would not be as a starter.
