Following their 4-0 win over Getafe this past weekend, Barcelona face a much sterner test in La Liga as they take on Athletic Club away at San Mames on Sunday.
Heading into the match, there was hope that Barça would be greeted with some positive news on the injury front as it was believed Ferran Torres could return in time for the trip to the Basque country.
Ferran will not be ready
However, according to a fresh report from RAC1, that will not be the case. As things stand, Ferran Torres has been ruled out of Barcelona’s game against Athletic Club on Sunday.
Torres has been sidelined for almost a month now, after suffering an injury during the game against CA Osasuna in late January.
As a result, the 23-year-old has missed the Catalans’ last five matches across all competitions, including the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first leg against Napoli.
But there had been some hope that he could be back to face Athletic Club on Sunday. However, that will not be happening.
When will Ferran return?
As per the report, Ferran will be returning to group training at some point this week, but will not be ready in time to face Athletic Club at San Mames.
Instead, the plan is for the forward to make his comeback against RCD Mallorca on March 8 at Estado Olimpic Lluis Companys.
The idea is for Ferran to be at 100% for the Champions League second-leg tie against Napoli which will be played on March 12, in Montjuic.
Before his injury, the Spanish international had scored 11 goals and set up four more for his teammates in 32 matches in all competitions.
