Barcelona have missed having first-choice goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen on the pitch for two months now.
The German international has been out sidelined since early November due to a back problem that needed him to undergo surgery.
During his absence, Inaki Pena has done a fairly solid job between the sticks but has had some misses that have hurt the team.
As such, Ter Stegen’s return is anticipated with great enthusiasm as Barcelona will not only get back a key player but also a leader on the pitch.
Ter Stegen sets return date
Now, as per SPORT, Ter Stegen has set a date for his comeback and the idea is for him to make a comeback in the La Liga clash against Granada on February 11.
This comes after the 31-year-old spoke at the Mundo Deportivo gala last night when he confirmed that he would be ready to return in two weeks.
“I can be ready in two weeks. I have good feelings,” he said.
Building on that, SPORT states that Ter Stegen’s return is now set for the game against Granada on February 11.
The former Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper has missed 13 games since getting injured in November: seven in La Liga and two each in the Copa del Rey, Spanish Super Cup, and the UEFA Champions League.
Prior to getting injured, Ter Stegen had made 17 appearances this season across all competitions, in which he kept eight clean sheets and conceded 15 goals.
With the UCL knockout phase set to kick off next month, Ter Stegen’s return before that would come as a much-needed boost for Barcelona.
