A royal pundit labeled Prince Harry and Meghan Markle “insensitive” for posing with Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness, who has been vocal about ditching the monarchy in favor of becoming a republic.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made a surprise appearance on the Caribbean island Tuesday to attend the premiere of “Bob Marley: One Love,” where they cozied up to Holness and fellow anti-monarchist Marlene Malahoo Forte on the red carpet.

Phil Dampier, an outspoken royalist, told the Daily Mail Wednesday that Jamaica was likely to hold a referendum later this year to sever ties with the British monarchy.

“It’s almost certain they will go their own way eventually,” the pundit said.

“Under normal circumstances, there would be nothing wrong with them going to a film premiere. But at a time when … Jamaica is making noises about ditching the monarchy, this is rather insensitive,” he added.

Both Harry, 39, and Markle, 42, have “happy memories” of Jamaica, as Dampier noted.

“Clearly, the couple felt at home. But it’s sending out a message that they support that country when they haven’t found the time to make a public show of support for the King and the Princess of Wales,” he went on, referencing King Charles lll and Kate Middleton’s ongoing health woes.

“They may have done so in private, but they are certainly not going out of their way to say they want a reconciliation, and this appearance emphasizes yet again the different world they now live in.”

Last week, Middleton, 42, underwent an abdominal surgery that Kensington Palace described as “planned.”

Meanwhile, Charles, 75, is set to undergo a procedure in the coming days to treat an enlarged prostate.
