Brentford striker Ivan Toney has insisted he’s ‘ready’ for a big move amid interest from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
Toney has established himself as a top Premier League goalscorer and was strongly linked to United back in January as well as both Arsenal and Chelsea.
While Arsenal and Chelsea’s interest has somewhat cooled, United are still very much interested in Toney and will battle Tottenham for his signature this summer.
Toney is out of contract in the summer of 2025 and is likely to depart Brentford but he is adamant that his focus is solely on the Bees amid talk of a major move.
‘I’m a Brentford player,’ Toney told talkSPORT as he gets ready to feature for England at Euro 2024.
‘I have a year left. Going into a major tournament, that is my main focus now. But after this, I’ll be going back to Brentford and I will be a Brentford player still.
‘It’s nice to be linked with other clubs. But I’ve had this in the past. Nothing is done until it’s done.
‘Like I said, I’m a Brentford player and I’m focused on doing well for Brentford for the upcoming season. That’s the main thing.’
Quizzed how ready he was for a big move, Toney added: ‘Obviously, if it was to come, I would be ready.
‘But I’ve got to remained focused and not let other things and other noise get the best of me and just focus on what I need to do for my club.’
Toney is thought to be on a three-man shortlist as United look to recruit a new striker this summer along with Jonathan David and Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee.
It was thought that Zirkzee was on his way to AC Milan but they are still facing problems in getting a deal over the line, which may reopen the door for United.
Lille star David is the other option after he conjured up 26 goals and nine assists across 47 games for the French club in 2023-24.
