An NBA rivalry crossed over onto WWE programming on WWE SmackDown.

On his way to the ring on the June 28 episode of WWE SmackDown, WWE United States Champion Logan Paul revealed that Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton would be in his corner, as he called Haliburton someone who knew how to win in Madison Square Garden. Haliburton came out and briefly confronted Brunson.

Paul then faced LA Knight and Santos Escobar in a Money in the Bank qualifying match. In the closing moments, Paul called for Haliburton to hand him his brass knuckles. Haliburton was about to, but Brunson stopped him. Knight then capitalized by pinning Paul for the win.

After the match, Paul and Haliburton confronted Knight, and they were about to gang up on him. Brunson made the save with a chair, and Paul and Haliburton backed down.

Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers eliminated Brunson and the New York Knicks from the NBA Playoffs by beating them in the Eastern Conference Semifinals in May.

Haliburton is a known wrestling fan, and he has been on WWE programming before. He made an appearance on the June 24 episode of WWE RAW.
