Jason Hervey reveals why he created the LWO in WCW.

The Wonder Years actor made an appearance on WCW Nitro on commentary during the Monday Night Wars. He secured a role as an executive producer on the show which he held until the company was sold to Vince McMahon.

During his time in WCW, Jason Hervey had the idea to form the LWO. The Latino World Order was an offshoot of the NWO, led by Eddie Guerrero and featuring a host of other Latino wrestlers, including La Parka and Rey Mysterio.

The group were formed after Eddie Guerrero’s real-life spat with Eric Bischoff was turned into a storyline and lasted until 1999. As it turns out, Jason Hervey was the mastermind behind the group’s formation. On Jason Hervey Live (via AdFreeShows.com) the actor spoke about pitching Eric Bischoff the LWO.

Jason Hervey on the LWO

“LWO. The Latino World Order. It was really coming from a place where Eddie was so nice to me, he was really great and fun to work with to me and all my interactions with me. He was pretty unhappy with where he was at on the card at that time. In a way, it was him challenging the establishment. Him saying ‘Hey, I can do this too’ and there was just kind of set up perfectly with the NWO being established.” Jason Hervey said.

“Eric and I were sitting in a bar and I said ‘Hey, you know how we talked about Eddie recently?’. I pitched to Eric and said ‘We could call it the Latino World Order. The LWO. And if it works we can sell a bunch of merch’. Eric was like ‘that’s really good! And he can cut one hell of a promo to kick things off. I’m gonna do it, lets do it!’.”

Hervey went on to form a production company with Eric Bischoff. Together (as Bischoff Hervey Entertainment), they produced several reality television shows including Scott Baio Is 45…and Single, and Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling. Hervey also worked for TNA when Bischoff joined the company, and is credited with co-creating the TNA Reaction series.
