Jason Kelce made waves this past week as videos of him wearing a luchador mask and celebrating alongside his brother, Travis Kelce, as Travis’ Kansas City Chiefs enjoyed their Super Bowl win.

Speaking during the latest episode of the Kelce brothers podcast New Heights, Jason revealed how he came to find the luchador mask, and joked that once he found it, he knew he had no other choice but to put it on.

“I left the VIP area and, en route, saw something on the floor that was being trampled over. I picked it up and right away, I was like, ‘Oh, hell yes,'” said Kelce, before Travis asked if he washed it, to which Jason replied “No. Where was I going to rinse it off? You see a luchador mask, you don’t ask questions. You just put that thing on. I’m sorry for whoever I stole that from.”

When Travis noted that whoever owned it may have wanted it back, Kelce joked that it just “appeared out of nowhere,” and that for a moment, he was sure he would get pink eye from putting it on. He also went on to reference the world of wrestling, saying that he ended up looking “like Mankind and Rey Mysterio had a baby.”

In the days since the celebration, it’s been revealed that the mask Kelce found was actually given to him by Elijah Smith, an eighth-grader from Texas. Smith’s family was happy to see Kelce celebrating with it, but joked that they needed the good luck charm back for the start of next football season, something that Kelce has already said he would make sure happens.
