Last summer, country music singer Jessie James Decker and her husband, former NFL player Eric Decker, announced during an Instagram Q&A that they were expecting their fourth child, an oopsie baby who was so unexpected that Eric didn’t even believe it at first when Jessie told him she was pregnant. The Deckers had previously said that they don’t use any form of birth control, so Eric’s surprise is still a mystery for me. Anyway, Eric also shared that he didn’t want to get a vasectomy for fear that it would “take his manhood away from him.”

Well, I’ve got some double good news to share with you all today! The first bit of news is that Jessie delivered a healthy baby boy back in early February. Little Denver Calloway Decker joins big sister Vivianne Rose, 10, Eric “Bubby” Thomas II, eight, and Forrest Bradley, five. Congrats to that little family of six. But the headliner here is that Eric finally put on his big boy pants and got a vasectomy. Huzzah!

Jessie James Decker and her husband Eric Decker have seemingly completed their family!

“I survived,” the former NFL athlete, 37, captioned an Instagram carousel on Monday.

In the first slide, Eric showed a photo of himself from the waist down wearing hospital scrubs. A red biohazard waste bucket can be seen in the distance. As the photos continue, he’s seen with a gray T-shirt that reads, “Vasectomy survivor. I kid you not.”

According to the Mayo Clinic, a vasectomy is a form of male birth control that cuts the supply of sperm to a man’s semen.

“🙄🤣🤣🤣,” Jessie James, 35, wrote in his comment section.

The couple, who have been married since 2013, recently welcomed their fourth child in early February — a baby boy named Denver Calloway Decker. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE earlier this month, the country singer revealed that she found inspiration for his name in a dream that she had.

“I was holding him in the dream, and he was smiling and I was calling him his name Denver,” the “If You’re Up” artist said. “I woke up the next morning and in the kitchen with the family, I told everyone to be prepared because I saw a sweet boy in my dream. I was calling him Denver and I’m pretty sure it’s him!”

She added that Denver holds a “special” meaning because “It’s the city we fell in love, got our first home together, got married, had our first three babies.”

First, I just want to say that I really like the sweet story behind little Denver’s name. That is really special. Okay, onto the vasectomy of it all. I have to admit that while the “vasectomy survivor” portion of Eric’s shirt made me roll my eyes, I genuinely laughed out loud at the “I kid you not” part. That’s pretty funny! You know what would be great? If Eric took advantage of his standing in the more conservative communities out there and spoke out about why getting a vasectomy is the manly, responsible thing to do. Call it chivalrous or tie it into taking “personal responsibility” or whatever works with that crowd. Even if those men aren’t thinking about the long term repercussions of Dobbs, I bet some of their wives sure are and they would be grateful if Eric getting snipped gave their own partners permission to do so themselves. Anyway, congrats to Eric for surviving a routine procedure and an even bigger congrats to Jessie for no longer having to worry about a surprise Baby #5.
