Journalist Fernando Polo has reported through Mundo Deportivo that someone close to Joan Laporta has been urging him to fire Xavi from his position as the manager.
The reporter mentions that Xavi’s future will be a major topic in an upcoming meeting which will include the Barça coach, Laporta, and likely the sporting director Deco, along with Alejandro Echevarria, a trusted associate of all three.
This meeting is scheduled for next week, specifically on Monday. However, it is also possible that Laporta might call for a sudden meeting today after the game against Rayo Vallecano.
Tension flowing across the corridors
Tension at the club rose after Xavi’s press conference before the match against Almeria.
Despite being confirmed as coach just over three weeks ago to continue until 2025, Xavi suggested that the club’s financial issues could make it harder to compete against a strong and potentially stronger Real Madrid.

Is someone influencing Laporta?
Encouraged by someone he trusts, Laporta has started to seriously consider dismissing Xavi. An upset Laporta also did not travel to Almeria and also avoided meeting with Xavi on Friday, requesting to postpone their meeting.
Meanwhile, key figures in the club argue internally that firing Xavi for expressing his opinion might be difficult to justify.
They believe a conversation between the coach and the president is crucial to clear things up, leaving all possibilities open.
Now, while It is clear that Laporta can make any decision, he will need to explain it to Xavi, a club legend, and the fans.
Another significant consideration is the financial aspect: paying off Xavi’s contract and hiring a new coach amidst the club’s delicate economic situation.
