Portuguese prodigy Joao Neves arrived in Paris on Thursday and underwent his medical before signing his new contract. The official announcement is scheduled for this Friday.

It’s a real gem that the Parisians have poached there, in the person of Joao Neves. Already capped nine times in the Portuguese selection, at 19 years old (he will celebrate his 20th birthday on September 27th), the midfielder capable of playing advantageously in 6 or 8 promises to form a formidable pair with his compatriot Vitinha.

To secure the services of such a precocious talent, PSG had to wager 70 million euros all the same – including a bonus of 10 million. Almost a trifle given the initial claims of the leaders of Benfica Lisbon, the club that trained the nugget, who initially expected 120 million euros to give up the reins.

Sanches goes the other way

Arriving in the French capital early this afternoon on Thursday, Joao Neves was able to undergo the traditional medical examination – an essential step prior to signing a five-year contract with PSG, until June 2029. The Parisians, after Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov, thus have their second summer recruit. The official announcement of this reinforcement is scheduled for this Friday.

In parallel with this deal concluded between PSG and Benfica, it should be noted that Renato Sanches has been loaned for the season. A return to his roots for him, trained by the Lisbon club where he began his career before joining Bayern in 2016. Then Lille in 2019 and Paris in 2022. Remember that the 26-year-old player was loaned to AS Roma during the last season.
