John Cena was the face of WWE from 2006 to 2016 and carried the company on his back throughout the Ruthless Aggression as well as the PG era of WWE. The WWE veteran is known for his outspoken attitude as he freely shares his views without holding back any punches. During his time in WWE, Cena feuded with many legends of the game one of them being, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.
In the period between 2008 and 2009, John Cena criticized The Rock for transitioning from WWE to Hollywood, all while Cena remained an active competitor in the wrestling ring. However, Cena later admitted his error in judgment after he, too, pursued a career in Hollywood.
While on Logan Paul’s podcast Impaulsive, Cena reflected upon his past criticism of The Rock. He admitted that “I spent years calling out The Rock, saying, man, if you love the business, you should be back.” Cena further added that he’s hypocrite for calling out The Rock as he himself is not able to take out time to do WWE shows.
“I spent years calling out The Rock saying man if you love the business you should be back, what a f****** hypocrite I am, I love the business, I should be back all the time but I’m not.”
Cena acknowledged his own shift in perspective, recognizing the challenges and commitments in Hollywood that he once criticized The Rock for embracing. It worth noting, the rivalry between the two WWE stars reached it’s peak back in 2012 when the on-stage drama developed into actual animosity between the two professional wrestlers.
However, it’s all water under the bridge now. In a recent revelation, Cena also hinted at a possible third rematch with The Rock. He also stated that he would not be who he is without The Rock. For what it’s worth, despite their age old rivalry Cena would always be glad for his feud with The Rock. You can check out the Impaulsive podcast below.
