John Cena looks forward to telling stories in his last run with WWE.
John Cena announced that he would be going on a farewell run at WWE Money in the Bank. The retirement tour is set to kick off in 2025.
Speaking at the WWE Money in the Bank Post-Show, John Cena was asked whether he had any idea as to who his final opponent would be. He was also asked about potentially having a final showdown with The Rock.
“There’s always unfinished business in the WWE, which probably makes this announcement extremely surprising because I’m trying to close up shop here,” John Cena said. “I don’t and have never put much stock in expectations that are beyond my control, and I’ve tried to lead an existence where I can control what I can. I am in no position to hand-pick opponents.
“I’ve always had a wonderful time challenging myself telling stories with whatever hand I was dealt. So I think that’s part of the allure and part of the excitement of what we’re about to embark on is the stories we can tell and hopefully who’s gonna show up. We’ll see.”
John Cena Wants To Work With Everybody
Later in the press conference, John Cena was asked whether there was anyone on the roster that he had not had the chance to face that he wanted to work with. He highlighted the depth of the roster and said he wanted to work with everyone.
“Are you kidding me? The roster’s loaded right now,” John Cena said. “So is there anybody that I haven’t had a chance to work with? Everybody. I think that’s gonna be part of the hype and part of the intrigue about only doing so many dates is what stories are we gonna tell. I very much look forward to that.”
