Josh Barnett has taken to Twitter to heap praise on WWE’s Natalya.
The WWE superstar recently appeared on The Bump to discuss training with Shayna Baszler. This was prior to her NXT Takeover match with Charlotte Flair in 2014.
She revealed that she trained with Baszler in 2014 to learn submission transitions. This was in order to make her match with Charlotte even more impressive.
“Nattie came out to my MMA gym I was at to train.” Baszler said. “She wanted to come learn some submission transitions, because we had ‘Sharpshooter vs Figure-Eight’ sort of thing. Nattie comes out to train, and then I watch the match and I see stuff. Like, this was mind blowing to me! I was like ‘Oh man! It’s like real stuff that I showed her!'”
Natalya then jumped in, saying, “I wanted to pick her brain and I wanted to take her skills and to be able to incorporate them into pro wrestling, because I knew that I always had this vision that my work with Charlotte would be one of the most pivotal moments in my career, but also for women’s wrestling.”
“So, when you want to be the best, you train with the best.”
Josh Barnett Added To The Story By Saying Natalya Is Driven To Be The Best
In a reply to the aforementioned clip, Josh Barnett gave some views of his own of Natalya.
He noted on Twitter that Natalya had trained with Baszler for years, in order to improve her craft. Barnett said she is “driven to be the best”, which explains her work ethic in and outside of the ring.
@QoSBaszler letting you all in on some of the behind the scenes here…and I’ll add this too. –@NatbyNature has been coming out and training here and there with (and then Shayna) for years. Why? Because Nattie knows her pro wrestling roots with Catch Wrestling but also because she’s always been driven to be the best she can be and it shows.
