The Take It Back Movement, a key organizer of the EndBadGovernance protests, has announced a one-million-man protest scheduled for Saturday across all 36 states of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
This was revealed by Mr. Sanyaolu Juwon, the National Coordinator of the movement, in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja.
Juwon stated, “The Take It Back Movement (TIB), in collaboration with other organizers and organizations, will lead a significant one-million-man protest on August 10 in each of Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.” He noted that this event marks a pivotal point in the ongoing EndBadGovernanceInNigeria campaign, which began on August 1, 2024. Initially planned as a 10-day protest, the movement has now expanded into a sustained and widespread effort, attracting participants from across Nigeria and the diaspora.
The protest, which began on August 1, aims to highlight the severe hardships facing Nigerian citizens and is set to conclude on August 10. Despite being marred by the involvement of criminal elements in some areas, the protest has seen significant turnout, especially in the northern states.
President Bola Tinubu had appealed for the protests to cease in a nationwide broadcast, urging Nigerians to give his administration more time to address the issues. However, the protests have continued in various locations, including Abuja and Kano.
