Governor Uba Sani has been told to hand former Governor Nasir El-Rufai over to the anti-graft agencies following his indictment by the Kaduna State House of Assembly committee.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State urged Governor Sani to promptly involve the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Matters Commission (ICPC) in investigating and recovering funds allegedly embezzled by former Governor El-Rufai and his associates.
In a statement issued on Friday, Abraham Alberah Catoh, the PDP’s state publicity secretary, emphasized the party’s commitment to monitoring developments and responding accordingly.
Catoh stated, “The report from the Kaduna State House of Assembly on the financial activities of the previous administration under Nasir El-Rufai has validated the PDP’s longstanding concerns about the government’s expenditures. We urge Governor Uba Sani to immediately enlist the EFCC and ICPC to thoroughly investigate, recover any misappropriated funds, and prosecute those found guilty, as recommended by the committee’s report.”
He further highlighted that Governor Uba Sani had previously supported a loan application in good faith while serving as a senator. Taking decisive action now would help clear his name from public suspicion.
“The PDP endorses full governmental efforts to ensure transparency and good governance at all levels within the state,” Catoh added.
The statement also praised the House of Assembly and the committee members for their diligent work, asserting that history would remember them favorably for their commitment to accountability.
