The abduction of over 200 students in Kaduna state was a focal point of discussion during the Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday.
President Bola Tinubu therefore issued a firm directive to security personnel, instructing them not to negotiate or pay any ransom to the abductors during the rescue operation.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, relayed the directive while addressing State House Correspondents. He emphasized that the President’s directive is for security forces to pursue the abductors relentlessly and secure the safe release of the captives without yielding to ransom demands.
The abduction occurred at Government Secondary School and LEA primary school in Kuriga, Kaduna State, where bandits attacked and abducted over 280 students and teachers. The incident sparked widespread condemnation and concern across the nation as the bandits forcefully took away the students and educators after terrorizing the Kuriga area of the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
