As his lawyers had promised, Karim Benzema chose to file a complaint against the Minister of the Interior.

When he is publicly provoked, Karim Benzema is known for not giving in. He has once again proven it by filing a complaint against the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin.

Benzema finally reacts

The latter declared a few weeks ago that the former French striker had notorious links with the Muslim Brotherhood. An uncontrolled slippage which followed a tweet posted by the Al-Ittihad player, in which he gave his support to Palestine.

Benzema did not react quickly to this offensive. He did it cold, efficiently and after consulting with his advisors. A complaint was therefore filed for defamation against the French politician.

The complaint, filed by Me Hugues Vigier, targets these comments, which “undermine” his honor and reputation. It was filed before the Court of Justice of the Republic (CJR), the only court authorized to prosecute and judge members of the government for offenses committed in the exercise of their functions.

In his complaint, Benzema reaffirms having “never had the slightest link with the Muslim Brotherhood organization nor, to (his) knowledge, with anyone who claims to be one”. “I realize to what extent I am, because of my notoriety, being used in political games that are all the more scandalous since the dramatic events since October 7 deserve something other than this type of declaration,” he adds.
