Over the past 40 years, Sooraj Barjatya has delivered several iconic films in Indian cinema, such as Maine Pyaar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hai Kaun, Hum Saath Saath Hai, and Vivaah. His recent film, Uunchai, marked a departure from his usual family-centric themes, featuring Amitabh Bachchan and resonating well with senior citizens.
Kartik Aaryan to play Prem in Sooraj Bharjatya’s next?
There has been much speculation about Barjatya’s next project since Uunchai. Although he planned to collaborate with Salman Khan on Prem Ki Shaadi, this project did not materialise because Salman wasn’t interested in romantic roles at this stage of his career. Now, it’s reported that Barjatya is set to start casting for his next film, a drama centred on nuclear families. He is considering Kartik Aaryan for the lead role.
“Sooraj Barjatya is looking for an actor who exudes innocence on screen, and he believes Kartik Aaryan fits this new-age ‘Prem’ character perfectly. Discussions are still in the early stages,” Pinkvilla revealed. An initial meeting has taken place, and further talks are expected after the release of Kartik’s film Chandu Champion on June 14.
“Kartik is intrigued by the concept and is interested in the project but wants to review the complete script before making a commitment. The casting details for Barjatya’s next film should be finalised by mid-July following a full script narration,” the source added.
Kartik Aaryan is currently preparing for the release of Chandu Champion and will next appear in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 during Diwali. He is also set to star in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Arjan Ustara, produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, which will begin filming in late 2024. Additionally, Kartik has projects like the Pati Patni Aur Woh sequel and a Sandeep Modi directorial under Karan Johar’s production in the pipeline.
