EXCLUSIVE: In a very competitive situation, Hulu has landed drama The Spot, starring and executive produced by Oscar and Emmy winner Kate Winslet (Mare of Eastown, Mildred Pierce), with a straight-to-series order, sources tell Deadline. The project comes from Ed Solomon (Full Circle, Men in Black), A24 and 20th Television.

Created and written by Solomon, who will serve as showrunner, The Spot follows a successful surgeon (Winslet) and her school teacher husband who suspect she might be responsible for a child’s hit-and-run death. While looking into the matter, dark secrets are revealed that will test their relationship as they confront the possibility of hidden guilt and betrayal.

Winslet executive produces for her Juggle Productions alongside Solomon and A24. The project was developed and shopped by A24, which will serve as lead studio, co-producing the series with Hulu sibling 20th Television.

Solomon penned Men In Black and worked on the Now You See Me movies, among many others. A few years ago, he teamed with director Steven Soderbergh and HBO for the critically acclaimed narrative television series, Mosaic. Solomon wrote the script for the film No Sudden Move for director Soderbergh and producer Casey Silver starring Don Cheadle, Benicio Del Toro, Ray Liotta, Brendan Fraser, Kieran Kulkin and Matt Damon. His most recent release, Full Circle a six-hour limited series he wrote and executive produced.

Winslet is represented by CAA and United Agents in the UK. Solomon is repped by CAA.
