WWE is marching forward on the road to WrestleMania 40 with its next major stop being the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view in Perth, Australia next week. During tonight’s edition of SmackDown, Kevin Owens battled Judgment Day Dominik Mysterio with both men eyeing to claim a spot in the Men’s Elimination Chamber match.
The winner of the Elimination Chamber is slated to compete against Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40.
The Prize Fighter was laser-focused on getting his name back into the main event picture while Rhea Ripley’s Dom Dom looked to enter the chamber match to win his first major title opportunity at The Show of Shows.
The match was a display of technical back-and-forth with multiple near falls and amazing in-ring moves in an even match field as Dominik went in alone against the Prize Fighter. The bout even saw the appearance of the man who made his quest to join Dom’s faction for weeks, R-Truth who stayed at ringside for the match.
The closing moments of the one-on-one encounter saw Dominik asking Truth to hand him a steel chair who refused to do so after hearing the fans, giving KO the opening to connect with a pop-up powerbomb and pick up the win.
With this victory, he will now join Drew McIntyre, Randy Orton, LA Knight, and Bobby Lashley in the physically grueling bout taking place in the Land Down Under.
