Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney is close to reaching an agreement with Celtic, according to reports.

The 27-year-old’s contract with the Gunners is due to expire this season, which will allow him to move as a free agent.

According to The Telegraph, Tierney has attracted interest from several clubs including Bayer Leverkusen, Juventus, Sevilla and Everton.

However, the Scotland international has opted to return to his former club and an agreement over a pre-contract with Celtic is close to being signed.

Tierney came through Celtic’s academy and made 170 appearances for the first team before his £25 million move to Arsenal in 2019.

When asked about a potential move for Tierney last month, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers said: ‘We’ll always be linked with top players and especially players that are one of us.

‘Kieran was an instrumental part of a really, really successful period when I was here.

‘His talents then took him to another challenge but we’ll be linked with lots of names and with Kieran naturally because of his situation. But we’ll only talk about a player once he’s signed.’

During his time at Arsenal, Tierney helped the club win the FA Cup in 2020.

Tierney spent last season on loan at Real Sociedad and has made only four appearances for Mikel Arteta’s side this term.
