As he prepares to join Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappé returned to his turnaround in 2022 when he chose to return to PSG after giving his agreement to the Merengue club.

The series is finally coming to an end. Only a few days left and Real Madrid will formalize the arrival of Kylian Mbappé. The epilogue of an endless saga marked in particular by the incredible about-face of the Bondynois in the spring of 2022. Arriving at the end of his contract signed upon his arrival at PSG in 2017, the former Monegasque had in fact reached an agreement with the Real Madrid during the winter. However, it was with the Rouge et Bleu that the Parisian striker finally decided to continue the adventure.

Questioned on CNN, Kylian Mbappé returned to this turnaround, bitterly experienced by the Madrid camp. “It was more than PSG, it was more than staying at PSG, it was a World Cup in Qatar, there were a lot of things around that. It was an important decision, a difficult decision… but I don’t regret anything”he explained in reference to the World Cup which took place a few months later in Qatar, owner of PSG.

Kylian Mbappé became the club’s top scorer

“Of course, in a career you have to make difficult decisions and that’s what I did, but I became the top scorer of all time with PSG. I just want to remember the best things… It was not an easy situation and I wish no one had to go through that,” he added.

This time there will be no about-face. If Kylian Mbappé has to wait until next week, it is because of the Champions League final that the Madrid giant is playing this Saturday. Once the possible festivities have passed, the Merengue club will announce with great fanfare the signing of the French world champion, who has already signed his contract with Real Madrid, namely a five-year lease with an annual salary estimated at 25 million euros and a signing bonus of around 100 million.
