On Thursday the England squad was named (see below) for the October internationals.
Nick Pope and Anthony Gordon retaining their places from the September call-ups. However, Tino Livramento dropping down to the England Under 21s with Kyle Walker recalled.
Morgan Gibbs-White, Ezri Konsa and Kobbie Mainoo dropped out of the England Squad after the trio all sustained injuries for their respective clubs over the weekend.
Initially it was reported that no replacements would be brought in.
However, Wednesday morning has seen The FA announce that both Curtis Jones and Tino Livramento have been added to the England squad, for the Nations League fixtures against Greece and Finland.
The Mag report – 3 October 2024:
Lee Carsley has named his second (senior) England squad.
This follows a couple of 2-0 wins in his first two games in charge.
Lee Carsley overseeing an away win against the Republic of Ireland and at Wembley against Finland.
This latest England squad is for the October internationals, two more Nations League matches.
Home to Greece on Thursday 10 October and then away against Finland on Sunday 13 October.
Lee Carsley was named as the interim manager whilst The FA supposedly take their time to decide on their log-term choice.
However, it appears that this is Lee Carsley’s job to lose, as it seems he has these six Nations League (home and away) group matches against Republic of Ireland, Finland and Greece as a trial.
England were relegated to the second tier of the Nations League, so surely they should top this group and see Lee Carsley go from interim to permanent before the year is out. If making it four wins from four with these two games in the next 10 days, that would all but guarantee England topping that Nations League group already, with two games still left to play in November.
The England squad (see below) was announced at 2pm on Thursday afternoon.
This is the full England squad for the October internationals from Lee Carsley, included in this official FA announcement – 3 October 2024:
A 25-man England squad has been selected for October’s games against Greece and Finland in the UEFA Nations League.
Interim head coach Lee Carsley has called up Tottenham Hotspur striker Dominic Solanke, which will be a return to the Three Lions squad for a player who was last capped on his debut against Brazil in 2017.
There’s also a return to the squad for Jude Bellingham and Kyle Walker, who both missed out in September.
After victories over Republic and Ireland and Finland last month, the Three Lions will continue their Nations League campaign with a return to Wembley on Thursday 10 October (7.45pm BST kick-off) when Greece are the visitors.
It’s then onto Helsinki for the return match against Finland on Sunday 13 October (5pm BST kick-off).
Goalkeepers: Dean Henderson (Crystal Palace), Jordan Pickford (Everton), Nick Pope (Newcastle United)
Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Levi Colwill (Chelsea), Marc Guéhi (Crystal Palace), Ezri Konsa (Aston Villa), Rico Lewis (Manchester City), John Stones (Manchester City), Kyle Walker (Manchester City)
Midfielders: Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid), Phil Foden (Manchester City), Conor Gallagher (Atletico Madrid), Morgan Gibbs-White (Nottingham Forest), Angel Gomes (Lille), Kobbie Mainoo (Manchester United), Cole Palmer (Chelsea), Declan Rice (Arsenal)
Forwards: Anthony Gordon (Newcastle United), Jack Grealish (Manchester City), Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), Noni Madueke (Chelsea), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Dominic Solanke (Tottenham Hotspur), Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa)
So both Nick Pope and Anthony Gordon keep their places in the England squad, however, Newcastle United teammate Tino Livramento not included this time, after having been involved in the September one.
