Manchester United had a bid accepted for Lille teenager Leny Yoro on Tuesday.

It comes at a time when United appear to be pushing to sign three new centre-backs, including Matthijs de Ligt and Jarrad Branthwaite.

Yoro has called out a fake X, formerly known as Twitter, account which claimed he was not interested in joining United.

One account impersonating Yoro tweeted: “I don’t want you Manchester United. Leave me alone.”

Yoro has since called out the account for spreading misinformation, responding: “Fake account. You guys are psycho. Singal [report] this account.”

Fake account. You guys are psycho 🤦🏾‍♂️

This is the first time Yoro has referenced a move to United, and it may be telling that he was quick to diminish the fake tweet even though I don’t think anybody was falling for it.

United accelerated their interest in the French centre-back on Tuesday afternoon as Lille accepted their offer for the player.

However, reports in Spain understand that Yoro’s preferred destination is Real Madrid, who are keen on the defender.

The pressure is on Madrid to match United’s offer, but they are thus far only willing to split the transfer fee over up front payments and add-ons.

You could see why Lille – or maybe Yoro’s agent – might be pushing the player towards United.
